How to Make BBQ Sauce
Making homemade BBQ sauce doesn’t need to be complicated or time consuming! After a few simple steps, you’ll have a batch of BBQ sauce to use right away for your next grilling adventure, or to keep in the fridge for up to a week.
Heat Ingredients
Heat a small sauce pan over medium-high heat. Then place all the BBQ sauce ingredients into the sauce pan, making sure to mix all the ingredients well (we used a whisk!), and bring to a boil.
Let Simmer
Turn heat to low, and let the BBQ sauce simmer for 10 minutes.
Let Cool
Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature.
Seal & Store
When BBQ sauce is finally cool, pour into a large mason jar, and tightly seal the cover. This can be used right away, or stored in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
Homemade BBQ Sauce Q & A
How long can you store homemade BBQ sauce?
Great question! While many store-bought BBQ sauces are packed with so many ingredients and preservatives that the shelf life is years, this BBQ sauce contains only 12 ingredients, and will last up to a week in the fridge.
Because this recipe makes about 2 cups of sauce, it’s perfect to use when grilling for a group, or if you’re making multiple BBQ recipes throughout a week to ensure you use it all up!
What can you store homemade BBQ sauce in?
We like to store our homemade BBQ sauce in a Mason jar with a tight lid. This not only prevents it from spilling when it’s in the fridge, but also allows you to give it a nice shake before you use it ensuring all the ingredients are mixed sufficiently when you use your BBQ sauce.
