What You Need
Here’s what you need in order to make the best strawberry smoothie recipe:
Frozen strawberries- we used frozen strawberries, but fresh strawberries will work as well. We prefer frozen strawberries so that you don’t have to use any ice. Check out our tutorial on how to freeze strawberries.
Banana- either a fresh or frozen banana will work for this recipe! Check out our tutorial on how to freeze bananas for smoothies.
Greek yogurt- Greek yogurt adds a decent amount of protein and will make your smoothie extra creamy. Feel free to use any kind you wish. We went with plain Greek yogurt, but vanilla or strawberry would work too.
Pro tip: to keep this smoothie 100% plant-based, use a dairy-free yogurt!
Orange Juice: the way to get that cafe-worthy flavor is the orange juice! We love the flavor and the boost of vitamin c. Make sure to use 100% orange juice with no added sugar.
After testing many variations of this recipe, here’s what we found:
- Yogurt rocks: We went back and forth about whether or not to use yogurt in this recipe and at the end of the day, a strawberry smoothie with yogurt is just better than one without! It adds a bit of a tang and extra protein.
- Orange juice is key: We also tested this recipe with different kinds of liquid such as almond milk, normal cow’s milk, and water and orange juice won over and over again.
